Round 7 - Thad DuVall
Round 7 of the GNCC series was held in Millfield, Ohio. For Team
Shenandoah Honda/USWE-sports rider Thad Duvall it was a short 45 minutes drive to the race
site from Williamstown WV. With some rain overnight, the track turned out to be a
muddy mess for the morning classes, but by the time the Pros lined up at the start a
1 PM, the track had dried
up nicely for a great race. Duvall again was racing a Honda 250 F.
Duvall had a mid pack start and quickly passed a few riders in the first 2 turn, going
into the woods in 6th place. Assessing the condition carefully and not taking many
chances, he move into third place after the first lap. The battle was on with Mullins and
Russell, swapping positions a few times in the next few laps. On the third lap Duvall
took the lead but shortly after
|that his rear shock blew and was riding a bronco that was
hard to control. Loosing positions quickly the team decide to change the rear shock before the last
lap to salvage some points. Duvall ended up 9 th in the XC class.
Duvall: “I’m very disappointed how today went. I was feeling good all day and motivated to win
close to my home. Unfortunately just after I got into the lead my rear suspension gave out and had
to slow down”.
Duvall remains in third in the points standings after 7 rounds..
Results XC1: 1. Russell 2. Mullins 3. Strang 9. Duvall (Honda)
On another note, Duvall was selected for the Trophy team by the AMA to represent team USA in Italy
later this year. Unfortunately Duvall and the team have decided that with lack of financial
commitment from the AMA and a limited team budget, that he had to decline for the honor.
